What The Duck?
So suddenly social media is going mad over some guy I’ve never heard of, from a show I’ve never heard of, on a channel I’ve never heard of, but apparently he no likes the gayz and I should be bothered.

It might be a little early for Christmas just yet, but for the rest of December I’m offering Ace for the reduced price of $3.99 — that’s a third off! There’s never been a better time to curl up on a cold winter’s night and relive the magic and excitement of a Grand Slam tennis tournament, and watching two young men fall in love. (more…)
I feel like I’ve not had a rant on here in the longest time… Heh, that’s writing for you. I’ve been busy locked in the Writers’ Cave (it’s an actual place) working on Match, but when news of a certain book currently being sold at reputable retailers everywhere reached my ears, I decided to climb out of the coffee-coma and fire up the old blog. You see, this book has got me pretty riled up. And what is it? Why, a “Christian” parenting guide.
As Madonna once said. #Earworm
I have a boarding card in my grubby mitts and I’m officially checked in for my flight tomorrow (Manchester to Inverness, I really shouldn’t be so excited about it). The entire series of Ace is now live across Amazon, ARe, RainbowEbooks and Smashwords, and trickling through various suppliers to all my other outlets. (more…)
Some of you may have seen a (very quiet) announcement in the news that by the end of the year, the majority of British ISPs will block access to pornographic content unless a homeowner opts in to receiving it. There are a multitude of reasons why this is a Very Bad Thing, and why we should all be worried. (more…)
An article on the ACLU blog this morning caught my attention, reporting that in Norristown, PA., the state has introduced legislation to force landlords to evict tenants if the police are summoned to their address. Such ‘nuisance ordinances’ might seem reasonable if your neighbour’s a drug dealer constantly getting raided – but what if your neighbour’s a victim of domestic violence?
It’s official. We’ve had two or three days of gorgeous, balmy weather and this morning I saw the year’s first butterfly in my garden (a beautiful pale green Brimstone). Which got me wondering again about this creature, that I spotted in my garden at the end of September last year. Any ideas what it is?? (more…)
It takes a lot to make me feel sick. I’ve got a pretty strong stomach; I’ve drank from a stream while hiking, gone further uphill and found a rotting sheep carcass in said stream and still held onto my lunch. But something I saw today induced a wave of rolling nausea so great I feel compelled to share it. This video is just over 4 minutes long; I urge you to watch it all, with the sound up. But if you’re really pushed for time, skip forward to 55 seconds in. (more…)
Apologies for the double-post today, but this one couldn’t wait. I’m sure some of you by now have seen the recent press release from GRL regarding the registration for October’s con in Atlanta. For those of you who haven’t see it yet, here’s the highlights. (more…)
Last week I wrote about the speeches given by various MPs during the equal marriage debate. I said I had never felt as proud of UK MPs as I did that day, and I meant that. Genuinely. But there’s one MP I am not proud of – my own MP, Derek Twigg; one of only 22 Labour MPs to vote against equal marriage.
