#WhyIWriteRomance, or Your Bitterness is Showing

romance-1190601-639x424-300x200 #WhyIWriteRomance, or Your Bitterness is ShowingI’m supposed to be working. But instead I’m infuriated because my Twitter feed is full of quotes from some SFF author who says romance is a shitty genre and *bless the little women who put so much effort into writing it* but our products are crap. I haven’t even looked who it is because honestly… another day, another Author-with-a-capital-A being condescending. I really couldn’t care less about them. Continue reading →

Hannibal Leaves Us Starving: Queerbaiting in Modern TV

hannibal-will-hannigram-241x300 Hannibal Leaves Us Starving: Queerbaiting in Modern TVSo AJ and I started watching Hannibal recently. We literally devoured S1 and S2, but halfway through S3, it started to jump the shark. The reasons we said that were various, and included the mashed up timeline and the whole mess that was the European jaunt, but what most got our goat was the queerbaiting surrounding the relationship between Hannibal and Will. At the time (three days ago) fans of the show told us it wasn’t queerbaiting and to wait until we’d finished it completely to form a conclusion. Yesterday, we finished it. This is our conclusion.

BE WARNED: herein lie spoilers for Hannibal and Black Sails Continue reading →

The Great Wattpad Experiment

SL-cover-188x300 The Great Wattpad ExperimentI always felt like I missed out on something. A lot of m/m writers came to the genre through online fiction, fan or otherwise, but that whole world completely passed me by. Yet I’ve read some online fics in recent years that are among my most favourite books (I’m thinking Restraint, Drunk Textand I’m currently reading the In the Company of Shadows series and loving it).

I’ve suffered a terrible case of FOMO for too long, so I’m doing something different. I’ve signed up for Wattpad, and I’m sharing stories old and new. Join me now for an exclusive free read of my new book, Strait Laced.

Philip Lomax is a man with ambition. Getting ahead in business doesn’t leave much time for fun. Go-go dancer and all-round bad boy Ben is his polar opposite, but they can’t seem to leave each other alone. While Philip’s certain nothing can come of it, Ben seems determined to prove Philip isn’t as strait-laced as he appears.

Strait Laced will be published on Wattpad and remain exclusive for the first month thereafter. I’ll be posting regular updates so check it out, subscribe to get the next chapter as soon as it’s available, and don’t forget to vote and comment if you’re enjoying the story!

Dirty Talk — Money, and How to Earn it From Home

Workathomead-300x291 Dirty Talk -- Money, and How to Earn it From HomeWe’ve all seen those signs at the side of the road, cheap paper flyers promising “Earn $$$ Working from Home!” Every other website seems to promise you can be rolling in cash if you just monetise your Pinterest account or learn Java or join some remote phone sales hotline.I don’t know anyone who’s ever seriously considered calling a number from one of those flyers, or taken those websites seriously when they suggested that ordinary people just like you are earning $10,000 a month working a couple of hours a week in their free time!

They’re scammy, right? Except for the past three years, I have been working at home (sometimes even in my pyjamas!), and I don’t intend to quit.

 Reviewers Love The Slave!

Joyfully Jay – Jay’s Best Books of 2014
I was hugely impressed with this story. Aaron gives us such incredible depth and complexity to these characters and it is all just perfectly unpacked throughout the book. I loved all three of these men together and I truly enjoyed seeing their relationship grow and develop. They are sweet and oh so sexy and I can not wait to see how their adventures continued.

Love Bytes – Cindy’s Best Books of 2014
Intriguing characters, a fascinating world for them to live in and a storyline that grabbed my heart and wouldn’t let me go pushed this story to the top of my favorites list and it’s one I will read more than once.

On Top Down Under – Kazza’s Best Books of 2014
Highly recommended for fantasy and ménage lovers.

Sinfully Sexy
Kate Aaron pulled me into this story effortlessly, the writing just flowed. It’s one of those books that captivated me from the very first page, and for me that was down to the incredibly gentle and caring voice of Tam, almost hypnotic in a sense that I was totally drawn in, not having the slightest inclination to look away.

The Blogger Girls
There are stories that just suck you right into their world, and this was definitely one of them. If you’re a fan of fantasy stories, slave or not, I definitely recommend you give this gem a try.

MM Book Escape
I can honestly say out of my thousands of books, I have never EVERRR encountered an ending so brilliantly and masterfully done. My stomach literally feels as though it is in my throat the last ¼ of the book. Kate Aaron you have just rocked my world.

Diverse Reader
If there’s one series you should fall into IT’S THIS ONE! It will blow your mind, have your heart pounding, and every fiber of your being vibrating. I loved every second of this amazing story! Every second!

You Don’t Owe Me A Review

Save-an-author-225x300 You Don't Owe Me A ReviewIt’s been a fact since before I was published that authors these days love reviews. It’s another fact that readers love to leave reviews — sites like Goodreads have created an entire reviewer industry out of ordinary, everyday readers. No longer do you need a doctorate in literature in order to bestow your lofty opinion from the hallowed pages of the Times Literary Supplement. These days, anyone with an internet connection can review whatever they read, however they like. Continue reading →

The GOP Wants Us Dead

Screenshot-2017-06-26-21.10.41 The GOP Wants Us DeadNo, I’m not being dramatic. The Supreme Court legalised same-sex marriage in June 2015, but as early as April 2015, assuming that result, over 100 different pieces of anti-LGBT legislation had been introduced in 29 state legislatures [x]. Since SSM became law, that slew of bills became a flood, and many of them are being passed into law. Continue reading →
